This Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Pimlico Race Course we will have the 142^nd Running of The Preakness Stakes which will be Race #13 on the Pimlico race card with a listed post time of 7:35pm Est and a field of 10 horses going to post.

ROGUE HANDICAPPER® PREAKNESS STAKES OVERVIEW ANALYSIS

Here again we have a competitive field in the Preakness Stakes as we did in the Derby and which was proven by the huge payouts in the trifecta and superfecta.

WINNING PROJECTIONS

The Rogue Ratings™ computer program sees two horse as the projected wagering keys in the Preakness Stakes which is the #4-Always Dreaming (4/5) listed as the Speed Horse (S) which is the best early runner with a low velocity number. The Race Shape again sets-up very well for him where he should be able to gain control of this race from the opening stages of the race. Now, when they close in on the wire he should still have his nose around at the finish-line!

The second key horse to use in your betting selected by the Rogue Ratings™ in The Preakness Stakes is the #5-Classic Empire (3-1) is listed as a Rogue Squared Horse (R2) which is a second-best type of outlier horse with a low velocity number.

LONG SHOT PROJECTIONS

If your looking to key on a couple of long shots in The Preakness Stakes I believe the first one is #6-Gunnevera (15-1) which is the Rogue Squared Horse (R2) that is the second-best type of outlier horses with a low velocity number looks like a solid price play. In addition, this horse ran a very tough race and still looks to me to be moving forward in his form-cycle which looks to have him around at the wire. This long shot is a must use in your exotic bets!

And the other key long shot is #10-Conquest Mo Money (15-1) is listed as another Rogue Squared Horse (R2) which the second-best type of outlier horse with a low velocity number. This one skipped the Derby, but the Rogue Ratings™ loved this horse in the Arkansas Derby when he just missed in the last steps of that race against rival Classic Empire at odds of 17-1. He looks to still be in the good part of his form-cycle and deserves consideration in this race.

The Derby Is a Race to Bet

The Rogue Handicapper® knows the best way to bet the Derby is to “go big or go home” because all the ingredients for making a nice “score” in one race present its self in this famous horse race…big time!

Starting from the big field of horses (20 in gate usually) to extra-large betting amounts (not normally found daily at the track) of public money (uninformed bettors) being bet on the Derby all add up to a betting event you should wager on.  My own mindset is to attack the trifecta and superfecta in the Kentucky Derby.

The misconception of the casual horse racing fan is that you need to be exact in making your trifecta bets to get to the cashier windows…this is not so and I will show you what I mean! Meaning that the best way to help increase your chances of winning on the trifecta (picking the first three finishers in exact order) is to select one or two key horses (to use as your main selections/ keys) to finish in the top three positions of the trifecta and to put the other horses you pick as additional contenders around those key selections in each spot.

So, this way you have your additional horses crisscrossed or partly wheeled around your key horses and if one of your key horses run 1^st, 2^nd or 3^rd and two of your other contenders run in any one of the top three spots (with no opinion on your part where, just as long as they get there) you will win your trifecta wager…this is a very clever wagering strategy and I hope you will agree?

When betting the superfecta, you can just adjust the betting strategy that I’ve outlined for you above. For example, choosing to use only one key horse in all four spots or if you do use two key horses then I would recommend limiting the number of spots that you use them as this will help reduce the cost of your superfecta ticket…note, adding additional spots to bet your key horse(s) will greatly increase the cost of your superfecta ticket.
